Amok Brake
The Amok Brake is an innovative safety concept for the early detection and controlled interruption of dangerous driving maneuvers. Its goal is to prevent rampage and escape drives and to better protect people in public spaces.
Technology
Vehicles are repeatedly misused as weapons in attacks around the world. Existing driver assistance systems are not designed to reliably stop deliberate rampage or escape drives.
The Amok Brake is an innovative hardware solution that can be integrated into vehicles as a multisensor surface. Sensor surfaces are protected within body components such as the bumper, hood, or fender.
The onboard computer continuously evaluates sensor data and uses algorithms or artificial intelligence to detect abnormal driving behavior. If a safety-critical event is detected, the vehicle can automatically be slowed down in a controlled manner or brought to a stop.
Application Areas
- Prevention of rampage drives
- Interruption of escape drives
- Protection against vehicle-based attacks
